Description: 5200-foot elevation. 10 campsites on Timpanogas Lake in a stand of fir in the Oregon Cascades National Recreation Area. Hiking the undeveloped recreation area is popular in the summer, on over 20 miles of trail with spectacular mountain views. Snowmobiling is popular in the winter, although many cross-country skiers are beginning to use the area. Fishing in the lake, which is the headwaters for the Middle Fork Willamette, for cutthroat and brook trout. Canoeing in the lake is permitted, but no motorized boats.
Location: From Oakridge, go 2 miles east on OR 58, 0.5 miles on Kitson Springs Road. Continue on Kitson Springs Road for 0.5 miles, 32 miles south on Forest Road 21, and 10 miles east on FR 2154 (FR 21 & FR 2154 are called Diamond Drive).
