Description: 1800-foot elevation. 17 campsites at the confluence of French Pete Creek and the South Fork of the McKenzie River. A trailhead on the other side of the road accesses the Three Sisters Wilderness, with the trails branching out along French Pete Campground and up to Tipsoo Butte. Fishing in the McKenzie River is open for trout and steelhead April 22 - October 31, with catch and release only for trout.

For those whose idea of paradise is a nice hot soak, the Terwilliger (Cougar) Hot Springs (~111º) are nearby. The trailhead is off FR 19, and the springs are about 0.25 mile hike in. A $3 day use pass or a $75 annual pass is required, available from the Blue River Ranger Station on OR 126. The hot springs are clothing optional, so avoid the general area if you are shy.

Location: From Eugene, go 46 miles east on OR 126, then 13 miles south on Forest Road 19 (Aufderheide Scenic Byway).
