Description: 1200-foot elevation. 38 campsites on the South Fork McKenzie River, near the Blue River. The campground is adjacent to an old-growth grove of Douglas firs and western red cedar. A nature trail tours the grove, offering insight into the ecosystems of the northwest before logging and development. The nature trail is paved and wheelchair-accessible, as well as the picnic area and some campsites. Fishing is open for trout and steelhead April 22 - October 31, with catch and release only for trout. An ampitheater is available for occasional ranger programs in the summer or for group events.
Location: From Eugene, go 46 miles east on OR 126, south about 0.5 mile on Forest Road 19 (Aufderheide Scenic Byway), then 1 mile west on FR 400.
