Description: 4120-foot elevation. 18 campsites on Phillips Lake, a popular fishing lake. Motor boating and canoeing on the lake. A hiking trail circles the lake. Evidence of the gold rush is still visible to the north of the campground, where mine tailings are piled up around the massive Sumpter Valley Dredge, which sifted $4.5 million in gold out of the Powder River gravel. Also visible are the tracks of the historic Sumpter Railroad.
Location: From Baker City, go 22 miles southwest on OR 7, 2 miles south on County Road 667 and 2 miles east on Forest Road 2220.
