Description: 10 campsites on the John Day River. The class II-III river winds through colorful high desert canyons, fascinating fossil beds, and
sagebrush uplands. Fishing is exceptional, particularly for steelhead (in season) and bass. Kayaks, rafts, and driftboats are the most popular craft.
Take-outs below the campground include Service Creek, Twickenham, Clarno, and JS Barnes State Park. Please check Oregon sport fishing regulations for specific restrictions and seasons for the John Day River.
