Description: Lower elevation (6800`) means this small site is usable longer than most Sacramento Mountain area campgrounds when snow starts to fly. 6 dipersed units with tables and grills. Vault toilets. The mountains near Capitan are known as the birthplace of the world-famous Smokey Bear. Hunting for black bear, elk and deer in the Capitan and White Mountains. Nearby attractions include Ski Apache, Ruidoso and the Ruidoso Downs Race Track. Alamogordo is the home of the International Space Center. The town of Lincoln is famous for Billy the Kid and his escape from the local jail.
