Description: 3 sites for 60/80/100 people in meadow setting at 7000' provide popular group activity destination and trails/forest roads for hiking access into adjoining forest. Tent Camping with limited room for small trailers is allowed at the end of Cedar Creek for a 3 day limit.
The mountains near Capitan are known as the birthplace of the world-famous Smokey Bear. Hunting for black bear, elk and deer in the Capitan and White Mountains. Nearby attractions include Ski Apache, Ruidoso and the Ruidoso Downs Race Track. Alamogordo is the home of the International Space Center. The town of Lincoln is famous for Billy the Kid and his escape from the local jail.
