Hawk Springs State Recreation Area, Wyoming
View Vicinity Map Recommended Maps & Books Share With a Friend
Description: The many pleasures of Hawk Springs remain something of a secret. There is great fishing, because the lake is stocked with walleye, bass, perch, and catfish. Birdwatching is best near the blue heron rookery (accessible by boat), but around the rest of the lake one can view migratory waterfowl, owls, and raptors. There are separate tent-only campgrounds at the southern end of the developed stretch.
Location: From Torrington, go 21 miles south on US 85, then 3 miles east on County Road 186.
