Description: This campground is in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains, once a great source of railroad ties and mine timbers for the Union Pacific Railroad. Traces of the logging operations can still be seen in the Encampment River Wilderness, accessed from the Encampment River Trail at the campground.
Location: From Encampment, go .25 mile west, then south on County Road 353 1 mile to BLM Road 3407, then another .75 mile to the campground.
