Description: August 28, 1865, Gen. Patrick E. Connor led a column of troops against an Arapahoe village, as part of the Powder River Expedition to punish the Indians and make them keep the peace. Connor's force attacked the Arapahoe camp as they were preparing to move, and killed 64 warriors and several hundred horses. Today this site is a shady, peaceful camping area on the Tongue River, with a horseshoe pit, a playground, and 12 campsites, 2 of which will soon be ADA compliant.
