Description: Have you visited this beautiful site before? If so, let us know what you thought by clicking here Best seen from High Bridge Overlook on US 64 northwest of Taos, the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River contains campgrounds, a scenic byway, great rock art, miles of hiking on the high plateau and down in the 800 foot deep gorge. Highlights of the many recreational opportunities are fly-fishing, rafting and kayaking on the Rio itself from put in/take out spots like John Dunn Bridge, Taos Junction Bridge, Quartzite, and County Line where limited facilities exist. Depending on the run-off, you`ll get anywhere from Class II to Class V rapids in nine different segments of the river. Truly, this is New Mexico`s premier whitewater river. Top sections include the Ute Mountain Run (Class II); Upper Box (Class V), the Box (Class III-V) and Race Course (Class II-IV).
