Description: BLM posted Fire Restrictions for this area May 14th. Campfires and charcoal grills are permitted in developed recreation sites or improved sites where agency-built fire rings or grills are provided. NOTE: Fire restrictions also apply to undeveloped agency lands outside of this site.
Here, there are hundreds of the symbolic and artistic etchings known as petroglyphs. Others passing through here include Juan Bautista de Anza, the Mormon Battalion, and the Butterfield Stage Trail. Nearby access to Woolsey Peak Wilderness.
Location: Exit Interstate 8 at Painted Rock Dam Road/ exit 102 approximately 12.5 miles west of Gila Bend. Travel north on Painted Rocks Dam Road 10.7 miles to Rocky Point Road. Painted Rocks Petroglyph Site is 0.6 miles west of Painted Rock Dam Road on Rocky Point Road.

Notes: There is no access to the lake, nor is the water here potable. Fishing in the Painted Rock reservoir is also not recommended due to high levels of toxins in the lake.
