Description: 3300 ft elevation. 10 picnic sites in large trees by a small creek. A nature trail originates from the picnic area. No camping allowed.
During winter months, mild weather attracts residents and tourists to beautiful lakes along multi-hued desert canyons. Seeking refuge from the summer heat, visitors flock to the forest's rivers and lakes as well as to calm trout streams and the cool shade of tall pines in the Mogollon Rim. White water rafting on the Verde River. Many opportunities for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking the rugged terrain. Birdwatching and wildlife watching for hawks, eagles, javalina, white tail deer and coyotes, particularly near the Mogollon Rim and the area's many lakes and rivers.
