Description: 6000ft elevation. Large group area in thinly spaced trees which holds a maximum 100 people/30 vehicles. Access to hiking trails. Goldwater Lake is nearby for fishing and canoeing. Facilities include volleyball court, horseshoe pits, 13 tables, and 5 grills. Equipment available from campground host.Nearby four-wheel driving and mountain biking to old mining camps and ghost towns. Wildlife viewing. Birdwatching for hawks and bald eagles. Hunting for antelope, mule deer and black bear. Explore nearby rugged and remote Verde River Canyon with the Verde Canyon Railroad. Scenic driving. Relive old Arizona history in Jerome and Crown King. At the lowest elevation, the primary vegetation is of the Sonoran Desert type. As the elevation rises, chaparral becomes common, followed by piņon pine and juniper. Above that, Ponderosa pine dominates the landscape.
