Description: This major tributary of California`s Klamath River is located in heavily forested, mountainous terrain. The Trinity is noted for its salmon and steelhead fishery resources as well as its attraction to rafters, kayakers and canoers. The upper reaches are Class IV-V whitewater, but the lower reaches are class I-III.

The 25 miles northwest of Redding is a great place for boaters with some experience negotiating brush and rocks to test their skills. Class I-II flows. Steel Bridge, Douglas City, and Junction City campgrounds are en route. Undeveloped camping is permitted below Junction City, at Steiner Flat Road. There are no bathrooms or other facilities there, and no user fee.

Location: The designated section includes the river from the confluence with the Klamath to 100 yards below the Lewiston Dam, the North and South Forks of the Trinity and the New River.
