Description: This major tributary of California`s Klamath River
is located in heavily forested, mountainous terrain.
The Trinity is noted for its salmon and steelhead
fishery resources as well as its attraction to rafters,
kayakers and canoers. The upper reaches are Class
IV-V whitewater, but the lower reaches are class I-III.
The
25 miles northwest of Redding is a great place for
boaters with some experience negotiating brush
and rocks to test their skills. Class I-II flows.
Steel Bridge, Douglas City, and Junction City
campgrounds are en route. Undeveloped camping is permitted below Junction City, at Steiner Flat Road. There are no bathrooms or other facilities there, and no user fee.
Location: The designated section includes the river from the confluence with the Klamath to 100 yards below the Lewiston Dam, the North and South Forks of the Trinity and the New River.
