Description: 47,140 acres. Unusual for Colorado wilderness, this area lies entirely below timberline. The thickly forested slopes of the Gore Range rise gently between the Yampa River valley and the Muddy Creek valley. The 11-mile Sarvis Creek trail and the 9-mile Silver Creek trail cross the wilderness from west to east; other trails circumnavigate or cut through corners of this area.
Location: Easiest access from the Service Creek State Wildlife Area northeast of Yampa.
