La Posa Long Term Visitor Area, Arizona

Description: BLM posted Fire Restrictions for this area May 14th. Campfires and charcoal grills are permitted in developed recreation sites or improved sites where agency-built fire rings or grills are provided. NOTE: Fire restrictions also apply to undeveloped agency lands outside of this site.

The campground for this extended stay camping area is approximately 11,400 acres in size with a flat landscape and sparsely vegetated with plants such as creosote bushes, mesquite trees and various species of cacti. Opportunities for rockhounding are available, and the entire area around Quartzite fills up during the annual gem and mineral shows in January and February. Dance floor and ramada for entertainment. Trash services provided, including a dry dump station and a dump station with water. Hunting permitted outside campground boundaries. Dispersed camping areas around the La Posa Long Term Visitor Area include Plomosa Road, Roadrunner, Dome Rock, Hi Jolly, and Scaddan Wash.


Location: Exit Interstate 10 at city of Quartzite. Take Highway 95 south 2 miles to one of the four visitor contact stations.
