Description: 6640-foot elevation. 16 campsites near the remote northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. Trails from the campground lead south into the park. A 1-mile nature trail leads up into one of the largest, and certainly the most spectacular, petrified forests in this region. Collecting petrified wood requires a permit, available for free (by mail) from the Gardiner Ranger District.
Location: From Gardiner, go 20 miles north on US 89, then 12 miles southwest on Tom Miner Road.
