Upper Madison River Sites, Montana

Description: West Madison: 22 campsites with potable water. Boat ramp onto the willow-lined river; tables, fire rings. Primitive vault toilets. Pack in, pack out all your trash. Scenic views of Madison Range to the east, and the Gravelly Range to the west.

South Madison: 11 campsites with potable water and a day use area. Pack in, pack out your garbage. Boat ramp access to the Madison. Scenic mountain views of Madison Range and the palisades on the west side of the river.


Location: From Ennis, go 24 miles south on US 287 to the West Madison site. South Madison is about 5 miles further.
