Description: 7060-foot elevation. 12 campsites and a picnic area are in the forest by Hazard Lake. Fishing in Hazard Lake, Big Hazard Lake to the north, and Upper Hazard Lake, accessible by trail to the south. If you continue past Upper Hazard Lake, the trail joins an extensive hiking system which loops around several alpine lakes to the west and north. Carry-down access only for canoes. No motorized boats permitted on any of the lakes.

The lake is subject to drawdown because of the dam, so you will want to go early in the summer. The fishing is good and it is a nice place to take a picnic lunch and let the kids scramble around the shores. It is a two-mile round trip.
Big Hazard Lake is the largest of the three Hazard Lakes. It is an easy 0.5 mile walk through a forest. The lake itself comes right up to the edge of the forest and there is very little beach. The lake is serene enough to enjoy tubing, canoeing, and floating on inflatable rafts. Wildlife viewing. Mountain biking in the area.
