Description: The route cuts through the Cathedral Valley of Capitol Reef National Park. Towering rock formations line the road, which climbs to overlooks offering panoramic views of the tortured landscape of the valley, and the surrounding mountain ranges.

The Elkhorn campground(on Elkhorn Road) is on this route and offers full ameneties.


Location: From Fremont, go 5 miles north on UT-72 and go southeast on Baler Ranch Road, which then curves northeast and joins the Cathedral Valley Scenic Byway. The road turns south again and loops back to UT-72. One way trip is 35 miles and takes two hours.
