Description: 3460 acres, 8000-foot elevation. Hot Creek Reservoir is a tributary of the Rio Grande River and is fed by several warm springs. Its average temperature is 54 degrees. Vegetation ranges from grasses and desert shrub to pinyon-juniper and ponderosa pine. Hunting for deer, elk, rabbits, doves, coyote, bobcat, and trapping. Big horn sheep and antelope use the area, although there is no hunting allowed for these animals. Primitive camping.
Location: From Monte Vista, travel 20 miles south on CO 15, then west 5 miles.
