Oregon Educational Programs

Leave No Trace

Conservation practices developed to minimize impact of back country areas by hikers and campers stress planning and preparation, concentrating use in high impact areas, spreading use in pristine areas, avoid places where impact has just begun, packing it in and out, leave what you find where you find it, and using fire responsibly. The education program developed by the National Outdoor Leadership School has, since 1965, emphasized these principles to foster conservation of all natural resources by outdoor users.
